Selection of Young Reporters for the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games starts
CHENGDU, March 4, 2023 – Like for the Winter edition of the FISU World University Games held earlier this year in Lake Placid (USA), there will be FISU-AIPS Young Reporters at the Summer edition of the FISU Games in Chengdu (China, 28 July-8 August 2023).
For this event, seven international candidates aged between 18-25 will be selected by FISU and the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and added to the existing pool of Young Reporters (YRs).
On its side, the Organising Committee of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games will select 12 national Young Reporters.
Upon arrival, a few days before the Opening Ceremony, national and international Young Reporters will participate together in various cultural events, in line with the Young Reporter Programme’s goal to encourage the mixing of, and interactions between, national and international YRs.
Selected international candidates will benefit from the training of two high-level mentors who will assign them with tasks based on a daily programme. During the first week of the games, they will also attend lectures delivered by experienced professionals in the morning.
Their reporting work will include a large range of media and communications aspects to ensure they receive broad experience. FISU.tv, fisu.net and FISU’s social media platforms will be used to publish most of their work at the Games.
In line with FISU’s new communications strategy, increasingly focussing on digital media, applicants studying digital media are strongly encouraged to apply. Skills we are ultimately looking for include: Content creation for Entertainment Social Media (FB, Instagram and TikTok mainly), basic video editing skills (social media oriented video editing, reels, dynamic cuts, captions and subtitles, etc.), interview skills (including on TV), journalistic and storytelling skills, ability to research and/or find good stories. Photography skills would be a plus.
The Young Reporter Programme follows a policy of gender equality, by selecting the same number of women and men for this edition.
